Get inside your characters head
« on: May 17, 2013, 10:04:00 PM »
So on another RPG I play, there was this survey where you have your character answer things in character so you can get to know them better and such. Original blog. I just thought it would be a good way for you to get inside your characters head. I'll post the one for Celeborn and at the end will be the code.

Part 1: The Basics

What is your full name?
"Celeborn."

Where and when were you born?
"I was born in 1400 in the Years of the Trees in Doriath, which was in Beleriand."

Who are/were your parents?  (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
"My father was Galadhon and my mother was Mirithil. They were both good Elves and kind."

Do you have any biases or prejudices?
"I generally distrust Dwarves because in the First Age, they set a Simaril in a necklace for Thingol and desired it so much that they killed him and sacked Menegroth. Plus, they later woke a Balrog in Moria and caused the King of Lothlorien, Amroth, to flee and for my wife and I to become Lord and Lady of Lothlorien."

Have you ever been in love?  If so, describe what happened.
"Having a wife generally means you are in love or have been at some point. I think my heart has belonged to Galadriel since the first time I ever saw her. It was bit like being hit repeatedly by a strong wave then warmed by the sun or a fireplace."

What do you look for in a potential lover?
"I don’t need to look for a potential lover since I have a lover in my wife. But I shall humor you. One word: Galadriel."

"Of those that are still living or in Middle Earth, I am fairly close to them."

Have you started your own family?  If so, describe them.  If not, do you want to?  Why or why not?
"Have you not met my rascals of grandsons? Or my very beautiful granddaughter? Or listened to me talk of my daughter? Yes I have started a family. Celebrian, my daughter, has silver-hair like me and married Elrond. The two of them gave me three grandchildren: Elrohir and Elladan, the twins, and Arwen. All three are dark-haired like their father."

Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
"Depends on with whom, my mood, over what, and Galadriel."

Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?

What makes you laugh?
"Almost anything."

Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
"I generally prefer a plan but I also enjoy being spontaneous."

What are your pet peeves?
"People being overly annoying, stupid, or trying to flirt with my wife."

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.

Describe the routine of a normal day for you.  How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
"I normally get up around dawn, get dressed, and have breakfast with Galadriel. Then we hold court for those in Lothlorien that need help. Then I eat lunch, usually with my wife. The afternoon is taken up by meeting with the Marchwardens and doing paperwork. Then dinner and an evening spent with Galadriel and then bed. If its Galadriel that interrupts, I enjoy it though I do not like my time with my wife interrupted with an extremely good reason."

What is your greatest strength as a person?
"My bluntness."

What is your greatest weakness?
"Galadriel."

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
"More understanding of my wife wearing Nenya."

Are you generally organized or messy?
"I am generally organized but not obsessive over it."

Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

Do you like yourself?
"What do you think?"

What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)?  Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public?  (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)
"I assume you can guess my answer but almost anything I do, I do it for Galadriel, a fact that I hide from no one."

What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
"Make sure the Dark Lord is truly defeated once and for all."

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
"Hopefully still as Lord of Lothlorien with my wife by my side."

If you could choose, how would you want to die?
"I would prefer not to die but if I had to, I'd like to do so protecting my wife."

If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
"Certain marital activities with a certain blonde Elf Lady would be one of those things. But the other two would be spend as much time with my grandchildren and maybe go attack Dol Guldur."

What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
"Assuming I was remembered at all, beyond as Galadriel's marginalized husband? That I loved my wife fully and completely."

What three words best describe your personality?
"Blunt, passionate, complex."

What three words would others probably use to describe you?
"Blunt, aloof, cutting."

If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character?  (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)
"Celeborn, just cut back on the bluntness. You will make someone cry one of these days and then you will be in true trouble with Galadriel."

Part 1: The Basics

What is your full name?
"Nori."

Where and when were you born?
"I was born in Ered Luin in 2827 of the Third Age."

Who are/were your parents?  (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
"They're both long gone now, I'm afraid. One way or another. Let's just leave it at that."

Do you have any siblings?  What are/were they like?
"Older brother Dori, who seems hell-bent on driving me up the wall. Me younger brother Ori is likely the sweetest little dwarf you'll ever meet. I love them both fiercely and would do anything in me power to keep them happy and safe. I'd die for them. Don't tell them I got all mushy here."

Where do you live now, and with whom?  Describe the place and the person/people.
"Weeeell... Now that's a fair question. Technically I don't live anywhere as such, the road takes me where it takes me. Me brothers live in Ered Luin still and I visit them when ever it's possible. Honestly, I've spent my fair share of time in prisons... And those aren't even the worst places I've occupied. If I had to name "home", though, it'd have to be my brothers' place."

What is your occupation?
"Thief, poacher, con artist. Oh, I like the sound of the last one best. But yeah, feel free to pick any of the above."

Write a full physical description of yourself.  You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
"A regular if not a slight bit thinner dwarf than most. Me eyes are brown and hair is chestnut and more often than not groomed into three points. Combined with me three-pointed beard the hairstyle seems what some might call star-shaped. I do have a tattoo on me arm branding me a convict but long sleeves usually cover that. Some random tattoos here and there on me legs and arms. Scars and scrapes here and there. Life on the road is tough, I ain't gonna lie."

To which social class do you belong?
"I come from a humble background and even still can't exactly claim otherwise. I try me best to change that, though, with the various cons I pull. Sooner or later I'll succeed, I'm sure."

Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
"None really. Unless greed counts. I'm told I'm greedy. I'm not weak in battles, as such, bit I'd rather not take hits 'cause I can't really withstand that many. I ain't weak, though!"

Are you right- or left-handed?
"Right-handed, although should the need arise I could fake left-handed, surely. Never tried that one before actually but yeah I don't see why it wouldn't work."

What does your voice sound like?
"A bit rough around the edges, a bit low too; not too much. Me pipeweed tends to lower it although to be fair I can't really tell. Usually I'd say I sound cheerful. Any role I might be faking might change that into pretty much anything required."

What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
"I actually use quite a fair amount of Khuzdul words, especially when addressing my brothers - blood or no. I guess I cuss quite a bit, too."

What do you have in your pockets?
"Wouldn't you like to know? Certainly nothing of yours..."

Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
"Weeeeell... I suppose pickpocketing and other kinds of little thieving might count? And smoking? I need me fingers to have summat to do all the time so I fiddle a lot. Keeps 'em nimble."

Part 2: Growing Up

How would you describe your childhood in general?
"So I said I'd leave me parents in peace but 'ere we are. Well. Me dad left us when I was just a wee lad, can't remember much about him. Me mum was amazing, loved her to bits I did. Once she passed though me brother Dori sorta took her place, mothering me and Ori so much that it eventually drove me out of the home. I got into trouble with the authorities quite early on, too."

What is your earliest memory?
"Well I do have a vague memory of me dad's face - forgotten most of it, though, or at least tried to. I got his eyes, though."

How much schooling have you had?
"Naff all, profession-wise. I'm a self-taught expert. Well, I did get taught Khuzdul and some fighting when I was small."

Did you enjoy school?
"If by "school" ya mean the aforementioned training, then yeah, was alright."

Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
"On the streets, o' course. There was this bloke who taught me the ropes until 'e backstabbed me and let me go to prison for the first time of me life. From then on me only teacher has been meself."

While growing up, did you have any role models?  If so, describe them.
"Hmm. S'pose that bloke I mentioned mighta been one, once. And this one magician who used to perform tricks around the market place when I was proper young."

While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
"Yeah it was good, after me dad left mum found a new bloke and he was alright, that's Ori's dad by the way. I'd say everything was good until I got meself in prison for the first time. After that I kinda started to distance meself from them."

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
"Initially I guess I might've even wanted to be a jeweller or owt, but thievin's been me callin' from fairly early on. That and bein' filthy rich."

As a child, what were your favorite activities?
"Spendin' time with me brothers 'as always been enjoyable to me, Ori loves me stories for one. I also enjoyed learnin' card tricks and other a bit dodgy activities. I absolutely love to make me friends smile and laugh."

As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
"After the innocence and naïvety changed into somethin' else I guess I could've been described as magpie-ish? I always appreciated pretty things from early on. I was also fast an' willing ta learn. I've never lacked in loyalty to me family an' friends, mind."

As a child, were you popular?  Who were your friends, and what were they like?
"I didn't 'ave friends other than Dori and Ori. I suppose that might 'ave been a reason why I was so taken when an older con man decided to take me under 'is wing and show me kindness. Well, up until 'e screwed me over."

When and with whom was your first kiss?
"Let's see now... I guess it was when I was around 42... I can't even remember her name, a lass older than me in a pub anyway, in southern Ered Luin. Meant nothin' to me and had a wee bit to do with alcohol, oh, and the silver earrings I nicked off her."

Are you a virgin?  If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
"Aah, well alright! Just as long as you never tell me brothers! Yeah I'm no virgin by any means. I actually wound up in a whorehouse in Bree when I was 45. Also I'd like to point out that prisons are not exactly nice places and at some point or another you might end up sharing a cell with a bloke who, uh... "craves affection"... With or without your consent."

Part 3: Past Influences

What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
"There are a few events that made me who I am today. Meeting the magician in the market place; becoming a con man's disciple; ending up in prison for the first time; having to flee Ered Luin and her authorities for the first time; the night spent in the Hobbit Hole recently. Some others too but I guess these would be the main things."

Who has had the most influence on you?
"A few people. Me family and friends, even that con man I've already mentioned a few times. But most recently Thorin Oakenshield with his fancy blackmail/pardon -trick. Oh, 'e's good."

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
"Hah! Did I ever tell you about the time I sold some bloke that massive  statue of Durin the Deathless in the Ered Luin marketplace? Cor blimey, that was a good one, still cracks me up every time! I never told you..? Ah, some other time, maybe..."

What is your greatest regret?
"Getting caught by authorities is never fun. I should be more than capable of both outwitting and outrunning them. But my greatest regret would actually be missing me baby brother grow up. That's somethin' I'll never be able to get back."

What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
"Oh please, ask a criminal such a question. Well I ain't ever killed or hurt anyone if it weren't for self defense. Shall we just leave it at that, hmm?"

Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
((Sniggers))
"Should you have asked me before setting off on this foolhardy journey with Thorin Oakenshield I would've only laughed at your question. Our agreement takes care of my criminal record, though."

When was the time you were the most frightened?
"Well there are prison tales I could tell ya but I think I'll tell you this one instead. One time I visited my brothers in Ered Luin and the guards had caught wind of me presence... I'm so glad I managed to flee the house before they barged in to look for me - my brothers would have been in so much trouble, harbouring a fugitive... I would've never forgiven myself for causing them such trouble. This was years and years ago and I've grown more careful since."

What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
"Well I actually found this stupidly amusing but yeah it was embarrassing as well... See, this one time me and Kvasir were drinking in Bree... Like, getting proper smashed and I can't even remember what happened... All I know is that when we woke up we had tattoos we didn't have the night before, spooning in a bed, me hands buried in his hair like I'd fallen asleep mid way braiding it. Oh, Mahal, that was an amazing night, apparently." ((laughs happily))

If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
"...To be honest I'd give anything if me mum was still alive. Not like anything I could've done differently would have changed her fate but still. That or spending way more time with my brothers."

What is your best memory?
"Right after Ori was born and our family was together and for a moment everything seemed perfect..."

What is your worst memory?
"Mum's death was a really tough experience... Again I could mention prison stuff but I think I've never been as heartbroken as I was when mum died."

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
"Definitely optimistic."

What is your greatest fear?
"That people I care about are hurt."

What are your religious views?
"Pretty much open to all views, me."

What are your political views?
"Don't get me started. I'd rather stay as far from politics as possible."

What are your views on sex?
"Sex? Yes please."

Are you able to kill?  Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
"In defence of meself or those close to me, I don't feel bad for taking a life. Yeah, I'm able to kill and yeah I've done so before. Not for sport, though, or without a good reason."

In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any being could do?
"I'm really not alright with sexual assault. Guess that might be one of the most evil things a person could do."

Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
"Sure why not. At least I'd like to believe. I mean wouldn't it be lovely to know that no matter what, at some point o' ya life you'd find your One?"

What do you believe makes a successful life?
"Happiness. To me that's wealth and maybe even more importantly the people I hold dear to me heart."

How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
"I'm actually quite an emotional individual but I try me best to hide it. I always try and act tough and joke about things to cover me true feelings."

Do you have any biases or prejudices?
"There's this sorta deep rooted hatred and distrust towards elves in our line of Longbeards. I don't in general like Men folk either. Usually."

Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances?  Why do you refuse to do it?
"Not entirely sure such a thing exists. I'm fairly flexible, morally speaking. Well. I'd never betray my family or friends, given choice."

Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
"Ori. Dori. The rest of the Company, I guess. Most anyway. Kvasir. Guess that's enough to get you started."

Part 5: Relationships With Others

In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)?  Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
"Well I'm fairly calculative, me. I never wanna judge people by first appearances and would rather give them the benefit of the doubt. When I grow fond and comfortable and close with a person I like to make fun of them every now and then, in good spirits of course. Friendly banter."

Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
"Ori and Dori. Don't make me choose between them. Also asking for reason is a bit naff 'ere, don't ya think?"

Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
"Actually that'd be Dori. Huh. He did a good job raising me and Ori all on his own, I can't deny that. How he managed to keep us fed and clothed, and although I helped with funding Ori's education a bit I can hardly understand how Dori was able to do all that. So yeah, I have immense respect for 'im. I dare you to tell him that." ((reaches for his daggers to make his threat clear))

Who are your friends?  Do you have a best friend?  Describe these people.
"Apart from my brothers my best friends would be Kvasir and Bofur. Kvas and me, we've been through some tough times, having met in prison and all that. He quickly became like a second younger brother to me. Bofur and me, on the other hand, we've been drinking buddies for decades, and although he's thoroughly honourable he sometimes does help me out with... stuff. I was so happy to find out he was a part of the Company, as well. My partner in crime. Mua-ha-ha. Beware." ((grins))

Do you have a spouse or significant other?  If so, describe this person.
"Have none."

Have you ever been in love?  If so, describe what happened.
"Nah, I've been with plenty of lasses and lads in a sexual way but never have I been in love."

What do you look for in a potential lover?
"I appreciate beauty, as I believe might've already been established. But I mean if I was looking for something serious, they'd have to have a brain to them. A casual lay don't 'ave to be smart and probably better they ain't, but if I were to consider my partner my equal they'd have to be clever. Also obviously loyalty is a bloody big thing for me."

How close are you to your family?
"There ain't anythin' I wouldn't do for me brothers. They're all the family I have left. I know Dori disapproves of me way of life but I still hope he and Ori might be proud to have me for a brother. I'd like to think they are. I s'pose this Quest might be a chance to get closer to them once again."

Have you started your own family?  If so, describe them.  If not, do you want to?  Why or why not?
"Nah, for now I'm happy as is. If I ever find somebody to share the rest of my life with, then ace, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to find anyone. It happens if it happens."

Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
"Depends on the situation. Dori. Bofur. Kvasir."

Do you trust anyone to protect you?  Who, and why?
"I'd be a nob if I said I didn't trust the members of this Company. And Kvasir and I have saved each other's lives a few times, I trust him completely.

If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
"Not sure anyone even noticed, to be fair. Being on the road as much as I've been, nobody ever knows where I was to be. In the Company, though, I'd like to think some might notice and care."

Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
"There are lots of tossers in prisons I despise. Most elves are tossers. Quite a few Men, too. And let's not forget all the orcs and goblins. Not sure who I despise the most. There was this one gold-toothed bastard all those years ago when I first met Kvas though and he's a good candidate."

Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
"I prefer to keep out of the way as much as possible. Sometimes people just want to argue with me and when provoked enough I will sting."

Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
"Definitely not."

Do you like interacting with large groups of people?  Why or why not?
"I work better in a small group or alone, to be honest. I'm not that good protecting people in a fight for example, with me short daggers. I've been used to do everything by myself for so long it takes some getting used to trusting others to be a part of the same plan as you, again."

Do you care what others think of you?
"Not really. Well. My brothers' opinions of me matter to me a little. Not so much that I'd change me way of life too much over it but causing them disappointment always hurts."

Part 6: Likes And Dislikes

What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
"Gambling and a good drink are a nice way to pass the time. And a nice smoke. Picking pockets and what you might call "petty thefts" are my guilty pleasure."

What is your most treasured possession?
"The fingerless gloves I wear that are knit by me brother are dear to me. And me kukri knives are quite nice."

What is your favorite color?
"I like purple and earthy colours."

What is your favorite food?
"When you spend as much time on the streets as I do any proper meal is a right feast. If I were to choose a "last meal" I wanted to have, it'd have to be a peppered steak prepared so that it's still pink in the middle."

What, if anything, do you like to read?
"I'm not much of a reader, me. I can read, I just don't often 'ave time for it. Ori's more of the one for books in our family."

What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, art, etc.)?
"Bofur's music always cheers me up, whether it be a flute tune or song. Dwarven style music in general I find soothing. Sometimes I might even dance to it."

Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs?  If so, why?  Do you want to quit?
"I 'aven't got a drinking problem. I drink, I get drunk, I fall down; no problem! Ah, good times. Yeah, I enjoy alcohol and pipeweed. What kind of a question is "why" in this context? I just enjoy 'em. Why would I stop?"

How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
"There really isn't a "typical Saturday night" to me too often. Going to a tavern with a good friend is always a good laugh though. When I don't feel like I need to watch out for the guards all the time."

What makes you laugh?
"Good company. Outwitting guards and/or marks."

What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
"Ain't much that can shock me. I've seen quite a bit in me lifetime. I've been offended in every colourful way imaginable already, I can take it."

What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
"I always sleep one eye open, so to speak. If I really can't get sleep I like to see if I can make a profit of the situation, ya know what I mean."

How do you deal with stress?
"I actually pull me hair out. Literally. Sometimes I sharpen me knives excessively. You can tell if I'm stressed by how steady me hands seem."

Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
"It's good to have a plan. With bigger cons that's a must. Mostly though I tend to just wing it. Mostly."

What are your pet peeves?
"When people you're supposed to trust betray you. Not really sure if that's so much of a pet peeve than actual common sense."

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.
""And etc."?"

Describe the routine of a normal day for you.  How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
"Right so by "normal" I should describe a non-work-related day. I like to sleep in as long as I can, provided that I feel comfortable in me surroundings. Grab some eggs and bacon when I get up. Spend time outside, preferrably with a friend. Maybe a drink or fifteen. That makes for a relaxing day for me."

What is your greatest strength as a person?
"Me street smarts maybe. Yeah, I'd say so."

What is your greatest weakness?
"Ya know how loyalty can be both a strength and a weakness? Yeah, that. Or maybe on occasion my cockiness?"

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
"Wasn't there summat similar in this questionnaire already? Ah, I don't know, I'd love to be rich though."

Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
"I'd say extroverted."

Are you generally organized or messy?
"Actually quite organized."

Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
"Good at: finding items of value, fleeing guards, picking locks. Bad at: not getting in trouble, lengthy battles, taking physical hits."

Do you like yourself?
"Oh, aye, I do." ((winks))

What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)?  Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public?  (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)
"It's not like I voluntarily joined the Company of Thorin Oakenshield. I was blackmailed. But usually the reason I have for doing what I do is gold. I love gold. Everybody knows this."

What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
"Getting rich and being able to provide for me family. Making my brothers proud is just a bonus."

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
"Once we reclaim Erebor I don't know if I'll stay or not. Me criminal record will be non-existent then. Maybe I'll return to Ered Luin. I don't plan that far ahead."

If you could choose, how would you want to die?
"I wouldn't want to have any regrets in the end. Having a little time to say goodbye would be nice but then I wouldn't wanna suffer for long."

If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
"One last tumble would be nice. Maybe one last con. And spend time with my loved ones."

What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
"My extraordinarily long criminal record that disappeared overnight."

What three words best describe your personality?
"Cheerful, clever, loyal."

What three words would others probably use to describe you?
"Thief, cheat, annoying."

If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character?  (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)
"Nori, my dear precious thing, please at least attempt to control your impulses to steal. I know it goes against your very nature but even the smallest change in your habits would make a considerable difference and others would not get as annoyed at you as often. Think of poor Dori, please. Ori could have a better role model in you, too."

Part 1: The Basics

What is your full name? Ori.

Where and when were you born? In the year 2864 of the Third Age, in Ered Luin.

Who are/were your parents?  (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) My don’t know my father’s name. Neither Dori nor Nori like to talk about it, and the way they just make it unmentionable...I’ve never plucked up the courage to ask. But I do know he worked as a smith for some time. And...once Nori was visiting and I was in bed, and for some reason they were talking about the past, and they called my father “soft-hearted and sentimental”, but I wasn’t meant to hear that. Then there’s my mother. She stayed at home. And Dori often talks with her with a lot of respect. He described her as hardworking and determined but also very kind. So she must’ve been like Dori the way I must be like my father.

Do you have any siblings?  What are/were they like? Dori’s the eldest. He’s got braided hair and a braided beard, which are white. He’s short even for a dwarf, and stout with age and not that much work, but he does look like he’s a force to be reckoned with in a fight. He’s really fussy and overprotective, but he’s a good older brother. He also enjoys tea and wine and cooking and all that sort of thing, which I’m not very good at. Then there’s Nori...with his star-shaped brown hair eyebrows woven into his hairdo! He’s really clever and sneaky, and he’s...well, a thief. BUt he was brilliant stories of his time on the road. I love listening to those. Anyways, I admire them both but in different ways. But I know I wouldn’t like to be like either.

Where do you live now, and with whom?  Describe the place and the person/people. I live in a rather humble home in Ered Luin, with Dori, who I’m not going to describe again. There’s just what’s needed, and no else. The only thing that’s in surplus is one room, for Nori when he drops by every once in a few years or months.

What is your occupation? I work in the Ered Luin Archives as a scribe, archivist and translator. And now I’m the chornicler in the Quest for Erebor.

Write a full physical description of yourself.  You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. Let’s see. I’m a bit taller than Dori, I’m slim and wiry and not very strong. Which I should be, since I’m a Dwarf. I do have a beard, but it’s not very long, since I’m young, but it will be. My hair is light brown. I dress in warm clothes, mostly. I hate being cold. They’re usually grey, I don’t like bright colors, but sometimes I wear brown or purple, because Dori likes purple and sometimes it’s not that bad, even if it’s a bit expensive. I don’t have any scars yet, or tattoos.

To which social class do you belong? Dori and I could be considered well-off, at least.

Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? I’m allergic to nuts, ginger and mushrooms. And no diseases, even if one I got rather sick with this fever when I was young. Then physical weakness...rather too many. I don’t fight much. So if that’s considered a weakness...

Are you right- or left-handed? Left-handed.

What does your voice sound like? Some say it’s squeaky? But I don’t hear it very squeaky, just when I’m nervous. It’s just reasonably low.

What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? I don’t really repeat phrases, but sometimes Fíli and Kíli tease me a lot for thinking so much of what will Dori say, so they bring it up often as if I say it a lot.

What do you have in your pockets? Nothing right now. Wait...A bit of parchment I had to throw away for a wrong use of the Tengwar.

Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? I’m really polite. And sometimes too shy for my own good. And...sometimes I’m impulsive around others. Like, I’ll give in to what they’re doing.

Part 2: Growing Up

How would you describe your childhood in general? Quiet, really. Being mothered to death by Dori, it’s what to be expected.

What is your earliest memory? It was closing a door and getting my hand stuck in it. I cried a lot. I must have been around 6.

How much schooling have you had? Well, a really pompous one. Dori wanted me to be very well educated, as befit our class and even more. So maybe I was nurtured to love knowledge, but I don’t care. It’s what I love.

Did you enjoy school? Yes! Except when the tutors were impatient. Then I would be so withdrawn they’d quit, but that didn’t happen much.

Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? Anything that’s not scholarly? Well, I help around the house with Dori, so he taught me that, even though I’m terrible at cooking. Some friends have tried teaching me fighting, but I haven’t taken much to it. I was in mining once but it didn’t go very well.

While growing up, did you have any role models?  If so, describe them. Not really. At first, it was Nori, but when I was 47 I learned that he wasn’t exactly of repute, and it was a letdown. But I never had a stable role model anyways.

While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? Dori bossed and mothered the heck out of me, being my only guardian. And Nori...as I said, when I was younger I really looked up to him, and I still do, only not so blindly.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Not sure if I wanted to be an adventurer, but I wanted to see things, the world, adventure, and write about that.

As a child, what were your favorite activities? I loved scribbling and reading and aiming games and racing. But never fighting.

As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? I was sensitive. Very. But I also loved to learn, as I do know, so I spent a lot of time with my nose buried in my books. I guessed that made me a little lonely and introverted.

As a child, were you popular?  Who were your friends, and what were they like? I wasn’t very popular, and I’m not very popular now. Flói lived nearby, so I befriended him. He and I used to mess around Ered Luin’s marketplace, and explore, generally, but I didn’t mix well with his friends. Aesa also lived nearby and she was at the Archives as much as I was, so we became good friends. Fíli and Kíli were of Flói’s friends that I did like being around, and when I grew older I became closer to them.

When and with whom was your first kiss? I...I haven’t kissed anyone yet *blushes*

Are you a virgin?  If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? I’m a virgin, of course! *blushes to the tips of his ears*

Part 3: Past Influences

What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? Well, before the Quest it was beginning work at the Archives, but now, it’s the Quest. Definitely.

Who has had the most influence on you? Dori, I guess, but I’ve also picked up a lot from my friends and Nori, because if I were really only influenced by Dori, I wouldn’t have wanted to leave home. And if not them, then my books. Yes. Books have influenced me a lot.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Joining the Quest.

What is your greatest regret? That I had to get hurt for me to finally realize that my way is not the way of other Dwarves, that I was a scribe, not a warrior, not a miner.

What is the most evil thing you have ever done? Oh...I had to run away to join the Quest. It...it hurt Dori a lot.

Do you have a criminal record of any kind? No, no!

When was the time you were the most frightened? Several of the experiences of this Quest qualify, and I think it must have been...the spiders *shudders* but before the Quest, it must have been when I fell into that mining shaft when I was a miner.

What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? I blundered once into one of Aesa’s parties when I wanted to give her a present but not attend the party, as her mother doesn’t really like me, but I was caught by some guest who recognized me and Miss Issa was not pleased, and everyone was wondering why I wasn’t looking very festive.

If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? I would...I would try and pluck up the courage to fight ever since I was younger, toughen up a little. If I had been more confident back then, I wouldn’t have been so afraid to be seen as weak when I began work as a scribe.

What is your best memory? I think it was when we reached the Carrock after being saved by the eagles. Lack of glory in the moment, I’d just been saved from falling into oblivion, and after that rush, and both of my brothers being alive, I couldn’t be more grateful. And when we turned to the Lonely Mountain...I couldn’t be more excited, relieved, enthusiastic and happy, all that at the same time.

What is your worst memory? Waking up in a spider cocoon unable to move, hearing the spiders shriek above me...it was terrifying. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t do anything. It looked like I was going to die. Or else...when I was at the bottom of that mining shaft, and in so much pain, thinking I was going to die...

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? I’d like to say I’m in the middle? But everyone says I’m too idealistic. Maybe that the middle bridge, not realism.

What is your greatest fear? I don;t know how to explain it...I don’t like being helpless. Like, when I was paralyzed by the spiders? That was the most terrifying moment of my life. I guess that’s why I don’t enjoy the cold either...it numbs you and makes you helpless. I don’t want to be helpless. I want to be able to survive. I also fear...being forgotten. Having all my writing be mere scraps to be forgotten on the way. Because Dwarves don’t usually care much for writing...so, it’s a good possibility, that my writing becomes worthless. And I don’t...I don’t want to see my brothers die violently. I know that as youngest I’ll most likely see them die, but I don’t want them to suffer and die.

What are your religious views? Er, not very developed. I know who Mahal is, but we don’t worship much in Ered Luin.

What are your political views? If it counts as a view, I believe Thorin is the rightful heir of Erebor and he has every right to try and attempt on the mountain, and that his council is good and wise.

What are your views on sex? I...I don’t really like thinking about that. I meant, it’s alright for anyone else to try what they like about it, as long as no children end up abandoned or killed or anything. But myself? I don’t want to get married. I think. That might change. I once thought I was...incomplete without love, but that’s not true. I know now.

Are you able to kill?  Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? Self-defense is the only reason why you should kill. Or if there’s a war and your people are being killed. Or in defense of someone else. That’s it.

In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any being could do? Well, killing someone, betraying someone, torture too...there’s a lot of evil in this world.

Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? Love, when it’s there, y=it can be what people call “true”, but not everyone has that.

What do you believe makes a successful life? Determination, cunning and strength.

How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? For a long time I tried to be physically stronger than I was, and it nearly killed me. Now I accept that I will only become as strong as I need to defend myself to do what I like. And that’s it. I’m pretty honest with myself, usually.

Do you have any biases or prejudices? Well, all Dwarves don’t naturally trust foreigners, but in the name of exchange of knowledge, I find Elves and Men and Hobbits more tolerable than the average Dwarf.

Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances?  Why do you refuse to do it? I would never hurt my brothers for anything. Or my friends. I stand with them to the death. And I don’t think I would be ever be bought to do anything wrong.

Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? My family and friends. And my king.

Part 5: Relationships With Others

In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)?  Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? I’m often too polite, and I’m often more confident and open whether they treat me kindly, but if they’re not very nice, I just drop the politeness and become straight up shy.

Who is the most important person in your life, and why? My two brothers, and I won’t choose between them. And because they’re my family!

Who is the person you respect the most, and why? I guess I respect Dori and Nori in different ways, for their strength, once again in different worlds.

Who are your friends?  Do you have a best friend?  Describe these people. Pretty much my childhood friends. I’m after all not that old.

Do you have a spouse or significant other?  If so, describe this person. No, I do not.

Have you ever been in love?  If so, describe what happened. I don’t even know if it was love, so I’d rather not talk about it!

What do you look for in a potential lover? I don’t look for potential lovers. Can we please stop talking about this?

How close are you to your family? I’m very close to Dori, but I don’t tell him everything, like I do Nori, and I don’t even tell Nori everything because some things they wouldn’t enjoy listening about, like my work at the Archives.

Have you started your own family?  If so, describe them.  If not, do you want to?  Why or why not? I--while I think families are important, they’re not my priority. If Mahal has it in his plans to thwart me, well, he’d know best, but so far...I don’t think I want a family of my own.

Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? My brothers.

Do you trust anyone to protect you?  Who, and why? My brothers, again!

If you died or went missing, who would miss you? Do I really need to answer again?

Who is the person you despise the most, and why? Oh, there was this bloke at the miners’ who used to gamble whether I’d come out alive out of that place every time I met him. I heard someone broke his nose, and I was happy to hear that. Other than that...I don’t really hate people.

Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? I avoid conflict.

Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? No.

Do you like interacting with large groups of people?  Why or why not? Er, no. Unless they share similar values to me, or value the same interests. then it might not be so bad.

Do you care what others think of you? At first I did, too much, and now not so much. It also depends if those people are important to me.

Part 6: Likes And Dislikes

What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? I enjoy reading and learning new things about history and art and languages. I try lots of artistic hobbies like drawing and sketching and painting, as well as using several new languages like Westron, Common and Sindarin. I have yet to try Quenya. Then I reached out and began using Common letters and then Tengwar in Rivendell. It’s quite a lot to do.

What is your most treasured possession? My journal, I should say.

What is your favorite color? I like grey. It’s like silver, but less fancy, and it;s the color of clouds.

What is your favorite food? Fish chips!

What, if anything, do you like to read? I like ship logs a lot, they’re very entertaining because sea voyages are rarely dull, but histories from lands I barely know are as fascinating--the very few works we have on the First Age are entrancing, really.

What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, art, etc.)? If it’s nonfiction, it must be impartial, but riveting, like a good chronicle, because the truth itself is all that’s needed to hook the reader into remembering and passing on the tale forever. Sometimes I like more measured forms of poetry and free verse. And Dwarven music is often very fun and jaunty, but those solemn songs I hear at times on the flute or the harp...they’re riveting/

Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs?  If so, why?  Do you want to quit? I do not!

How do you spend a typical Saturday night? Reading, often.

What makes you laugh? Well...jokes?

What, if anything, shocks or offends you? I don’t like it when people underestimate me. Or if they dismiss art or writing as useless. Or if they attack my brothers’ honors.

What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? I read. Sometimes I stay by the fire...warmth helps me a lot to feel alive and safe.

How do you deal with stress? I draw. Try to forget what’s bothering me by drawing. That doesn’t make the problem go away of course.

Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? I don’t know. I don’t really need a plan, but I’m not naturally spontaneous. But when I am, I usually feel good about it.

What are your pet peeves? Bawdy people who act like they’re superior than others for being loud and strong.

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.

Describe the routine of a normal day for you.  How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?

What is your greatest strength as a person? I guess it’s my knowledge, because it helps me a lot on how to deal with the world and who I should trust, because my eyes and ears aren’t always to be trusted. Sometimes it’s the word of some Easterling whose entire family was killed by Gondorians, or an Elf who has never left the forest and bears no ill will to any living being. I’m open to discovering the world.

What is your greatest weakness? I can be cowardly, break down in the face of danger. And I rely on others to help me with that. I am also somewhat selfish with Dori, because I want to have a life different than what he wants, and it feels like I’m excluding him but I’m not.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I wish I could be braver. If I would braver my lack of strength wouldn’t be so bad, because if I were more daring I would take more chances.

Are you generally introverted or extroverted? Introverted.

Are you generally organized or messy? Organized.

Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. Very good at? Weapons that involve aiming, I can ace those a lot. I can try my hand at deciphering new languages and ways of communication very quickly, and I’m also very knowledgeable about history and geography and that sort of thing. I’m certainly a very bad cook, warrior or dancer.

Do you like yourself? I should say so, yes. It’s just a matter of time until I become pleased with the work I’ve done and I feel happy with my life most.

What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)?  Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public?  (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) I joined the Quest, I tell the Company, because I wanted to see the world and I wanted to free Erebor, and I do, but I also want to discover my courage. And so far...I have some. And I’m happy about that.

What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? I want to be a scribe to be remembered, and help others to learn and befriend others through knowledge and languages and history and that sort of thing in general.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? If I’m being optimistic, as a scribe in the court of Erebor!

If you could choose, how would you want to die? As a hero. Saving someone, possibly my brothers. Or in defense of Erebor.

If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. I would give my brothers a proper goodbye, settle all my affairs on what should be done with my writings, and maybe play the flute. Or maybe see the Lonely Mountain freed, but the question said if I had time.

What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? For aiding in the conquest of Erebor, and being a master scribe.

What three words best describe your personality? Dreamer, curious, soft-hearted.

What three words would others probably use to describe you? Weak, bookish, quiet.

If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character?  (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) Ori, dearest, you can be brave, you just have to stop worrying about what others think is brave! Also, your brothers will be friends at last, with your effort to unite them and believe in good things! Please stop worrying so much, you can be brave! And DON’T GO TO MORIA. ONE QUEST IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR A LIFETIME, PLEASE.

Part 1: The Basics

What is your full name?
Angatindo Carnárë, or Angatin Caranor in Sindarin, son of Angaino, dubbed the Swordsmith.

Where and when were you born?
I was born in year 341 of the First Age in Himring, the fortress of Lord Maedhros in northern Beleriand..

Who are/were your parents?
My father, Angaino, was a minstrel from Tirion. During his years in service to Maedhros, he had attained the rank of Captain of guards, and that was how I remember him. He was a stern man devoted to his duty and to serving his lord, often cold, but very passionate about what he did, steadfast and loyal. My mother died while I was only a child. I don't remember her. They had both been Noldor of Tirion, of high birth and born during the ages of the Trees.

Do you have any siblings?  What are/were they like?
I have none.

Where do you live now, and with whom?  Describe the place and the person/people.
I have no stable residence; I travel between different havens as need be, most frequently alternating between Gondor, Mirkwood, Rivendell, and Lindon. I used to live in Mirkwood several decades ago.

What is your occupation?
I am a smith, a craftsman, a creator of blades and jewels alike. Back in Eregion, I used to be one of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain, the Jewel-smiths, but I had long since taken my hands off gems and resorted to forging blades only. In my youth, I fulfilled the role of guard and warrior as well.

Write a full physical description of yourself.  You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
I am of the Noldor, and according to that, I stand tall, with light skin, and have gone thin since my youth, though I have always been built lightly. I have sharp features, green eyes, while my hair is black as night and let grow as it wishes. It reaches under my hips, but it often doesn't appear to unless brushed. I do not cut it. I lost the little finger on my left hand in Nírnaeth Arnoediad, but my hands are worn by smithwork, long years of it no less. Taking into account my age... I lost count of all the scars on my body, but I know there are many. I wear primarily dark colors, many layers of clothes, and I always wear gloves. I do not often wear armor, but if, then only that of boiled leather, and hide it under a hauberk from Greenwood, often with its hood pulled upward to hide my face, while I carry most of my belongings under the tattered bottom part of the hauberk. When given the chance, I will gladly wear a long robe, which is my preferred type of garment even now, though I rarely get the chance to garb myself in one these days. When smithing, it is only trousers, a tunic, and the mandatory apron and gloves, I could bear no more in the heat of the forges.

To which social class do you belong?
High class, technically.

Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
None, though I am far from being in my prime, and my bones and muscles aren't as tough and strong as they once were.

Are you right- or left-handed?
Initially ambidextrous, but both my drawing, writing and sword arm is the right one; my left hand was maimed in the past and misses a finger, thus is more of a hindrance at things that require finesse.

What does your voice sound like?
Somewhat high-pitched, younger than it should according to my actual age, but melodic and elegant, although I have been told I have a very calm and quiet voice. Cold by all means. I tend to speak quietly.

What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
Curses, mostly to myself. Wretch. The word no.

What do you have in your pockets?
-reaches into pockets, then raises a brow- A... Lot of unfinished blades. They miss the majority of their hilts, but are otherwise fully functional... A leather cord from a jerkin I had torn away, some old coins from Rohan and Gondor... Some of them are like to be outdated by now... A tinderbox, iron wire. Little pieces of iron ore and coal. A whetstone for sharpening Agarwaen, a rather worn one, too. A folded scrap of paper with an unfinished sketch, a few twigs and leaves, a piece of rock-hard lembas that must be years old... And I believe this is a scrap of bloody fabric. I should rummage through them more often, it seems... And burn most of this...

Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I'm distrustful and easy to startle, prone to pulling blades and lashing out when I feel threatened; I dislike physical contact. I have a tendency to drift away, even in the middle of a conversation, and I get very invested in whatever work I do, though when talking, I might completely lose track of whatever I am talking about. There are... Matters not quite meant to be discussed that are the cause of this. I can sleep with my eyes open as well.

Part 2: Growing Up

How would you describe your childhood in general?
Lonely, cold, and not really much of a childhood. I spent most of the time watching other soldiers and being cold, training, learning, or loitering around the smithy. I grew up in Himring, sheltered behind its icy cold walls, or perched atop them, since I was a curious child. I didn't have friends, preferring to talk to other old elves. It was a cold, cold and lonely.

What is your earliest memory?
The first snow I saw in my life, and the cold stars above it, how I ran out of the gate and rolled in it. My father singing and playing the harp for me, being carried by him in the night... My earliest memories are scattered and little more than pictures and brief  memories, and I can't quite say which one of them was the earliest one, but I also remember carrying his sword and always looking forwards to the times when he returned home.

How much schooling have you had?
I was taught how to read and write, Sindarin and Quenya alike, and generally received good overall education with the added learning of fighting, archery, and smithing. I was taught to play the harp and sing, too, and received schooling in the general matters of history and the study of our kin and its customs. Especially as the child of a relatively important figure, I received very good schooling. My father made sure of that.

Did you enjoy school?
I was hungry for knowledge if nothing else, it was more difficult to get me out of the training grounds and the forge than it was to get me in. I enjoyed it a lot, and not only because it was the only thing to do during those long, cold days.

Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
By official study, other masters of my art as I traveled and right in practice, in the forge I myself frequented; I honed my forging skills to their peak in Eregion. I learned swordplay and archery back in Himring, but I had always been furthering my knowledge on the way, wherever I went. Most of the basis for my skills I had, however, acquired in Himring.

While growing up, did you have any role models?  If so, describe them.
Fingolfin, the High-king of the Noldor who valiantly fought the Dark Enemy, Maedhros, the lord of Himring, who survived the horrors of imprisonment by Morgoth and was a brave and excellent lord, and first and foremost of all the stories of his father Fëanor, the greatest smith of all, the one craftsman I had always aspired to be alike to, though knowing of the stories of his fall.

While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
I saw my father rarely, as he was mostly away on duty. We had a very quiet relationship. But mostly yes, if we happened to be together, what happened only scarcely. Angaino was a stern and cold man, it was better that I was out of sight. I obeyed him. He taught me many things, and though he did not display love and affection too much, I knew he cared for me, always having an eye out for me, always making sure I have a straight and clean path forth.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A smith and a warrior. I fulfilled it. I had always aspired to craft, though now, with age, I can but solemnly shake my head at my aspirations to be like Fëanor.

As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Loitering about the forges, watching other masters at work, and training swordplay or taking walks around the fortress. I also enjoyed climbing its walls and reading in the library. I loved drawing and talking to the guards, too... Wherever and whenever I could try my hand at the work of my elders or at craft and lore, I was excited to do so.

As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
I was sometimes too mature for my age, sometimes too held back, and other times too spontaneous for my own good, but I was always eager to learn and very fierce and enthusiastic about it, even if I wasn't a big talker all the time. I was a quite withdrawn child, especially towards other children, and solitary as well, always more interested in being with adults than anything else. I loved reading and I had a lot of ideas, too.

As a child, were you popular?  Who were your friends, and what were they like?
Not very much. I preferred the company of adults, and befriended the smiths, the warriors, even some scholars. I disliked the company of other children, few as they were there. My best friend was the local smith, who was as fiery as his forge and spoke colorful tales of Finwë and his sons every time I as much as dug that subject out. There were also some guards, such as Tinuvagor, one of the younger ones, or the Captain-of-guards that often taught me in swordplay.

When and with whom was your first kiss?
With Faervel, who would later become my wife, on a cool winter's night, curled up in furs when I was eighty-five. We were returning from a hunt in a merry company and I was shamefully drunk on mulled wine - some of my guard acquaintances being at blame here - and the sight of her. It was late, we were huddled up in a little encampment, and I couldn't quite control myself. I had been giving her gifts and even as much as held her hand before that, but then, I climbed atop her and kissed her, many, many times, at long last confessing my feelings towards her.

Are you a virgin?  If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
I had a son, how could I be a virgin, you fool? And off course it was with Faervel, my beloved wife. When is none of your business.

Part 3: Past Influences

What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
There were several. My first wedding, the birth of my son, when I became one of the Jewel-smiths... Nírnaeth Arnoediad, leaving Faervel behind, wedding Malgelir... Malgelir's death at my own hands... I should have never had done some of those. Few are good.

Who has had the most influence on you?
Those that I admired, the tales told of Fëanor, my father.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Forging Agarwaen and other blades alike to her, a blood-stained one as she might be. I was the best of the swordsmiths... The creation of the Gems of Lasgalen... My work on the Rings of Power...

What is your greatest regret?
Leaving my wife and son behind.

What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
Killing my second wife before the eyes of her nephews that we raised as if they were our own. Kinslaying is a sin and crime that can never be forgotten, nor can it be erased.

Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
Are you daft, deaf, or blind? I married twice, then killed my second wife and fled in the dead of night without leaving a trace behind, even though I never admitted to it openly until no one was out for me. I fought with others... But I did not slay them.

When was the time you were the most frightened?
When I searched for Faindir, and found not even a trace of him. To lose not only my wife, but also my son... I was even more frightened than when I realized Malgelir was dead on my own blade. But the very greatest moment of fear had I felt in Nírnaeth Arnoediad, bleeding, hurt, convinced that I am about to die already, when everyone that I knew was already dying before my eyes, and our flanks were stuck between hammer and anvil - turncoat Easterlings and Morgoth's orcs.

What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
I managed to fall off a balcony after a drink too many, before everyone's eyes, a good couple of feet down onto the hard earth. I lost a glove in the sea once, too, but no one was there to see that.

If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
Never having left Faervel and Faindir. We could have lived a different life. A better one.

What is your best memory?
My wedding, holding Faindir in my own hands for the first time, and riding out with him for the first time. The sight of my wife in her pale white gown in the courtyard of Himring, my firstborn son screaming in my hands, and him once more, now a boy grown, riding an unsaddled palfrey right beside me, proud and happy. Most of my memories of them are good ones.

What is your worst memory?
Nírnaeth Arnoediad, and finding Faervel's mound. The death of Malgelir, too, but that I remember but as a haze.

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Pessimistic. And prone to paranoia.

What is your greatest fear?
Having to wander through Middle-earth forever till I become naught but a shadow... Deep water, drowning in deep, dark water. The Valar's judgement for the wrongs I have done.

What are your religious views?
The Valar exist, and that cannot be denied, for I saw what they did to Angband, when they came from the West and defeated Morgoth.

What are your political views?
A long time ago, I was an ardent supporter of the sons of Fëanor, Maedhros in particular, to whom I had pledged loyalty, later on doing the same for Celebrimbor. However, I wish but to stay completely out of political matters now. There is no lord, no king that might claim my loyalty left alive now, for I had always been loyal to the House of Fëanor only.

What are your views on sex?
It is only acceptable to have sex with your betrothed and soulmate. Now that my wife is dead, I have no one to do it with; it's disgusting how some lesser races do it with anyone, not even their sworn partner, as if they were dogs. I detest that.

Are you able to kill?  Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
I am a warrior. Being able to kill comes in the package as naturally as holding a sword, for that is exactly what those weapons are made for. Killing is natural. If I feel threatened, I kill the one that is threatening me; I will not kill the innocent, but killing scum and filth of the Enemy is the best that can happen to them. And sometimes, death is easier.

In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any being could do?
Betray someone. Kill their own kin.

Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
Yes. It is essential to intimate relationships which do not function otherwise.

What do you believe makes a successful life?
For me, it is fulfilling my professional desires and living up to my potential, perfecting my skill and having working relationships beside that; never stopping improving and working on oneself. Success is measured by how much of your potential you can fulfill and if you can feel good about it.

How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
Of course I hide myself; otherwise, I would be a very easy target. I hide most things and if possible, avoid contact with others, except for my Noldorin kin. It is necessary if I do not wish to find a dagger buried in my back. Only sometimes, when I am convinced that someone can be trusted, am I willing to show a wider array of emotions; however, I am, by nature, not a person too willing to pour their heart out to anyone. I prefer to keep to myself, by extension hiding my true emotions from others not to make myself appear vulnerable.

Do you have any biases or prejudices?
I distrust all that are not Noldor by nature, especially men. They aren't to be trusted, as they have proven before. The Sindar and dwarves are rarely civilized enough, sadly.

Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances?  Why do you refuse to do it?
I refuse to bow to the Dark Lord, even if it would cost me my life, and I refuse to dishonor the kings of Noldor of old - Finwë and his sons. Death is still better than to dishonor myself so and sink that low, and beside, Morgoth Bauglir and his followers have wronged me and my kin too greatly to ever bend the knee.

Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
Pride. Pride, loyalty, allegiance. My craft.

Part 5: Relationships With Others

In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)?  Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
I keep them at a distance. The preferred distance is twenty miles and never having talked to me. I'm willing to let them come a few steps closer to business, but any relationships, unless completely necessary, are very unwanted. I am not outright rude... But I dislike people, and I am not warm to them, either. I do not like people staring at me, and when they do, they might get a bad reaction. I confide more of my thoughts in those that I had ever come to trust, and once I treated them warmly... I let them know parts of my thoughts and let them come closer, but that rarely happens. Those that manage to upset me might, at first, get a treatment of bitter sarcasm bordering with insults, veiled by politeness.

Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
Faervel my wife... I loved her, and I made more mistakes for her than I dared do for anyone else. She was the soul that made up the other half of the whole, with mine, and she was whom I loved. In the present day, there is no such person. And Faindir my son. It was him that made me hold onto life when I had thought I had lost all already.

Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Fëanor. Not only for his mastery of craft, but also for persistence and following of his goal. Even though he committed crimes on the way for this goal, he never gave up.

Who are your friends?  Do you have a best friend?  Describe these people.
Friends are dangerous to have. However, I tolerate Lord Elrond, some of his lords, Tinuvagor, Lady Galadriel, and Vashti. Lord Elrond is wise, and very old... Something that I understand all too well. He is generous, as generous as I, as a guest in his residence, can ever accept. So is Galadriel. She, unlike many others, is... Surprisingly understanding. Tinuvagor is someone I had known since my youth, and have not met for long centuries later, but he had been a dear friend to me when I was young. Vashti is a different sort. I would never thought to trust a Man, but she helped me from trouble that might have cost me my life. She is... Rude, insolent, and jaded, and she can drink more than myself, but so far, she appears reasonable.

Do you have a spouse or significant other?  If so, describe this person.
Yes, I had, twice was I wed, but only one of them I loved - Faervel, a maid fair as spring. Her hair was alike to steel in a starless night, and her skin was pale as snow. She could dance on frosted grass, and leave no more but fleet footsteps of melted hoarfrost beneath... But she wasn't weak, that would not do her justice. She was proud, proud, spontaneous, and far fiercer and braver with expressing her emotions than I had ever been.
Malgelir was stubborn.

Have you ever been in love?  If so, describe what happened.
I met Faervel while traveling, by mere incident, as the group of travelers she had been in had fused with mine. I noticed her right away, and I was astonished, for she was beautiful and I had eyes only for her. She lifted my heart, and I needed neither air nor food nor drink, I only wished to rest my eyes upon her form. I loved her dearly, and soon enough we wed, young though we were. She gave me a son... And I abandoned her, even though I never stopped loving her.

What do you look for in a potential lover?
Nothing. I cannot love another anymore.

How close are you to your family?
They're all dead, and the two boys I fostered I had not seen since they were children. So as distant as the moon and the stars.

Have you started your own family?  If so, describe them.  If not, do you want to?  Why or why not?
I have had a family twice; for the first time, it was with my beloved Faervel, and she gave me a single son, Faindir, who loved smithing almost as much as myself, but as well as that, he loved riding with his mother. He looked much like myself... He had my features, I was oft told, but he was stronger than me. A better warrior. I hoped that he'd best me, I knew he'd make me proud, but he did not get the chance. The second time was when I took in Malgelir's orphaned nephews. They were sweet and eager boys, but they reminded me of Faindir too much. Mírion and Tirnel were their names, and they were little when I took them in. They used to ask me a lot of questions... I remember them with gladness and mourn at once, when I do.

Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
Myself. I have none other to trust.

Do you trust anyone to protect you?  Who, and why?
I trusted Vashti when I needed her, but I wouldn't dare do that again for a longer time. She is only of the mortal Men, though she has the blood of old Númenor in herself. They cannot be trusted. Once, perhaps, I could have trusted Tinuvagor... But I do not think I could ever trust anyone to do so fully.

If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Only the hammers and bellows at the forges would miss such a wretch as myself.

Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
Morgoth, if he can be called a person, even; he was a vile abomination with a black heart that cost me and my kin a price higher than what can be paid without giving up all. His defeat cost us everything. And the war that he caused was the cause of all the misery.

Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
I tend to avoid people, but if they challenge me, I cannot ignore them forever. I try to end arguments swiftly, or they become fights. Though sometimes, when not too serious, a bicker can be an enjoyable battle of wits.

Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
I do not often find myself in social situations; I prefer to slip away without being noticed.

Do you like interacting with large groups of people?  Why or why not?
I hate it. It's extremely frustrating and unnerving; I prefer not to interact with anyone, or with as few people as possible.

Do you care what others think of you?
And why should I? What sort of fool are you to be even asking this?

Part 6: Likes And Dislikes

What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
I like smithing, reading, and drawing; sketching weapons as well as what I see around myself is very entertaining. I like writing about smithing as well, and I like to take long walks alone. I used to like to sing, but I can only do that alone and without any onlookers. I like the nature a lot, and contrary to what the sane mind says, I love to linger in the downpour of storms. I like engaging in discussions about craft and other meaningful subjects if I find someone worthy of conversing with, and practicing swordplay; however, finding a suitable partner for that is rare.

What is your most treasured possession?
Agarwaen, my most well-crafted blade.

What is your favorite color?
Black.

What is your favorite food?
Roast swan on herbs, seasoned by fresh, but hot spices, served with strong Dorwinion red and a side of summer salad, drenched in vinegar.

What, if anything, do you like to read?
Historical documents and scrolls that talk about smithing and craft. I like to look over maps as well. I like to read of the Noldor of old, and of the First Age; it oft happens that I get caught in reading enough to forget the world around myself, and I feel young again. I like to read songs, lays, and ballads as well.

What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, art, etc.)?
The music of my kin, and to watch nature and try to recreate it in my craft while still serving its purpose. It is the most astonishing kind of art. I have a liking for art as well; I often sketch and draw, though rarely show it to others. I draw the best entertainment from the beauty of nature and from memory, though.

Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs?  If so, why?  Do you want to quit?
I drink. Wine, sometimes mead or ale, but never beer. To sleep. Otherwise I wouldn't close my eyes. And if I quit, the Valar know I'd never spend another hour abed again. I do not like the taste as much as I like the oblivion and peace it brings. The only sort of alcohol I drink for the taste is red wine; in that case, I am rather picky about the vintage and drink it with care.

How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Traveling, or having a meal in the corner of some inn before I travel again. Late in the night, I tend not to be able to sleep; most often, I simply watch the stars and think.

What makes you laugh?
Sarcasm. And little else, for I laugh scarcely.

What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
An insult to my craft, to my kin, and any association with Morgoth Bauglir or any of his servants. And being taken for less than I truly am. People that think that know while, in fact, they are clueless. Hypocrites.

What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
I deal with this issue regularly. Depending on whether I am supposed to travel on the morrow, I either drink to help myself fall asleep, or I take a walk, sketch, or simply lay on my back and think.

How do you deal with stress?
I escape into places with no people; if that is impossible, I might snap and become violent very quickly, or break down.

Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
I don't always need a plan, but I try to have a back-up one. I can plan on the go if needed.

What are your pet peeves?
Stupid people. People getting too close to me. People touching me, or staring at me, and most of all people that disturb me during work. I get annoyed at overly talkative people as well.

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.

Describe the routine of a normal day for you.  How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
Due to my lifestyle, I have no regular routine. The closest that I come to is a few hours of sleep past midnight, if any at all; I wake up very early if I sleep at all, and I only eat small breakfast if I eat at all. After that, I set on to keep walking towards anywhere where I have work, or I get to work itself. That is how I spend the time of the day till sunset. I rarely eat during the day. I don't mind disturbances unless they are a very negative kind of disturbances; I am quite lax to them. Used to them. Disturbances are debatable when there is no regular routine to speak of in the first place.

What is your greatest strength as a person?
My intelligence and skill in my craft, my excellent memory, my imagination.

What is your greatest weakness?
Paranoia. Certain... Things I tend to see. And think. That I am damaged beyond repair inside, that my past haunts me and keeps going back, that I cannot hold myself together. Perfectionism.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
What I would like to change and to remove from myself cannot be done, anyway. But I feel that I sorely need to learn how to heal and how to get rid of my nightmares.

Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
Introverted. I dislike the company of others.  Even in my youth, I wasn't overly social.

Are you generally organized or messy?
Organized in my craft, but messier with my personal life. I tend to... Forget about things.

Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
I'm very good at smithing, drawing, and swordfighting.
I'm very bad at sleeping, tending to plants, and remembering to eat.

Do you like yourself?
No.

What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)?  Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public?  (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)
I am not an adventurer. I am a mere traveling smith... I travel because there is no else left for me. I have no home and destination, and I am searching for... Something. Something that will convince that my time here is done, and it is time to depart for Valinor. I tell people none of my reasons. They have no right to poke into my business.

What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
I no longer know. All I wish now... Is to find peace.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
On the road and in the forges, just like it is now.

If you could choose, how would you want to die?
Quickly, and by the sword. Preferably to the heart, or to the throat. In a way that it will take but a moment...

If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
I would give all the blades of my craft, and all my notes and sketches, to Rivendell, where they'd be preserved and kept well; then I'd find a place in the nature as beautiful as possible, rest on it for one last time, perhaps read and sketch, take a walk through the forges to reminisce of old times, and finally lay down into a boat, and floating downriver watch the stars come up above my head, to let a river carry me into the sea in death.

What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
My craftsmanship. I would be remembered as the Swordsmith, of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain, the maker of weapons which have no like to themselves.

What three words best describe your personality?
Introverted. Distrustful. Creative.

What three words would others probably use to describe you?
Old. Paranoid. Cold.

If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character?  (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)
Caranor, for the love of the Valar, you should already sail to Valinor. I know you're afraid of the Valar, but you did bad stuff, so accept it and get on with yourself. You'd find peace there, once and for all, while in Middle-earth, you'll most likely meet the saber of some orc if you continue this way. You're old, and you've done more than your share of work here, fought in more wars than what's good for you. You know that there's only grief left, so why don't you go? You'd be welcome in Tirion, among your kin. And beside that, you should stop thinking that everyone that as much as casts a gaze your way wishes you misfortune. It might be difficult to think that way, but sometimes, people are simply curious. Try to be more accepting.
And brush your hair. Please, wash it and brush it, and burn that filthy hauberk.

Kill me  XD

The Basics ║ PART 1

► What is your full name?

"Ivriniel, is my birth name.  Not very clever or meaningful, but being the firstborn daughter, I was given a name similar to that of my father's.  'Crystal' or 'crystalline', I believe, is the common root our names share.  Maybe it signifies something about me?… prophetically, in the future…?  But anyway… I'm not the only Ivriniel to exist among Elves and Men, so perhaps for the history books, Nessandil, will do rightly.  Oh, that's a second name I'm quite proud of.  Early on, before my first century of age.  'Friend of Nessa', is what it means.  Mostly to tease me, as my Woodland kin coined it, after my obsession with deer.  I think it's a respectable title, being named after one of the Valar.  I am not ashamed to be called that."

► Where and when were you born?

"Summer.  Year 2414, the Third Age.  I was born in a village called Thellant, in southern Greenwood.  Long overrun by spiders, some twelve/thirteen hundred years ago.  Most of us fled to the Elvenking's Halls, safely.  I haven't been back there, since.  Probably for the better, since I'd…rather not awaken old memories."

► Who are/were your parents?  (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)

"My father, Ivoron, is a healer.  My mother, Laerwen, was a seamstress.  Both were warm and friendly, like me.  My father had always been a healer, for as long as I can remember, but when my mother died and Thellant was destroyed, he had a bit of a falling out with healing, but took it up again when we came back to Greenwood.  Back when we lived in Ninoris – after Thellant was destroyed – he worked as a farmer, which suited him, since he's always been into plants and growing things, so his crops always flourished.  Even in winter, he kept everyone fed.  He still gardens, since we came back to Greenwood.  I get most of my personality and looks from him, so we've always been very close.  Still, he's not the same father I once knew, back in Thellant.  As am I, as both of us have changed… Grown distant…Alone together…Putting on our charismatic façades to cope with grief.  He gets along smoothly with people, but he's also a…solitary misfit, in a dark and mysterious way.  Some call it 'spooky'.  I call it dramatic.  Fondly, of course… And sad.  To think he's lost that spark of life for Greenwood, finding beauty in the macabre, instead.  He's a great healer and scientist, and cares deeply for people.  I've never seen him so focused in exploring medicine.  If delving into poisons and dark magic gives him new purpose in life, then I support him fully.  I believe his work will help others and this Forest.

My mother, I got my artistic side from her, as well as a love for animals.  Sheep were her favorites.  She had a flock of them, to spin wool and make clothes with.  Fitting that they should be related to deer, my favorite animals.  She loved to sing, and had a beautiful voice.  We were close, but…after the births of my sisters, she naturally devoted more time and attention to them.  Not that I minded, but she had a very strong bond to my youngest sister, Aerlinniel.  When Aerlinniel disappeared, a part of her also died, and I… couldn't help but feel betrayed when she did.  We found her in my father's garden.  I suppose that's the best consolation, being able to bury her.  I can only imagine what her shrine looks like now, in Thellant.  Desecrated by those horrid spiders…"

► Do you have any siblings?  What are/were they like?

"Two younger sisters, Lathariel and Aerlinniel.  Lathariel is more like my mother:  She works as a seamstress and thoroughly enjoys people.  We're close enough to act as twins and call ourselves a 'couple', Lathariel being the 'wife' in our relationship.  She keeps house and feeds me and dresses me up, and knows how to navigate any social situation.  She is completely charming, in ways I can only imitate but never be fully genuine and radiant as she is.  She is the perfect blend of sweet and ladylike, fun and easygoing, strong-willed and humble, not hesitating to get her hands dirty.  More than anything, she is a great listener, not at all the nagging 'wife' when I need someone to vent to.  She has a purity of heart that I would die to protect.  A purity that I believe has long been taken from me, since joining the Guard.

My youngest sister, Aerlinniel, was…taken away, a long time ago.  She was only thirty-two, at the time.  I don't know who Aerlinniel would have become, but as far as I remember her, she was… too brave and too naïve for her own good.  She fell in with the wrong crowd, I think.  My family and I all underestimated her.  I thought I knew who she was, but after that, I…  I don't know what could have possibly possessed her to leave the village.  Perhaps she would have made a good spy, going behind other people's backs like that."

► Where do you live now, and with whom?  Describe the place and the person/people.

"I live in Greenwood with my father and sister, and my sister's family.  We all have shelter inside the Elvenking's Halls.  Living with a bunch of other Elves can be both a comfort and stifling, always having company around to entertain myself with, yet hardly enough personal space to avoid gossip and drama…or noise, when the partying gets too loud.  I can force myself to make do with living there, so long as my family is around to keep me sane.  Still, I ache for open air, and I'd opt for the woods over the caves any day.  Or night.  Luckily the Halls are not so quite a permanent residence, whenever the Guard summons me away.  I spend a good deal of my time above ground, living in the forest with my fellow guards.  And when my father sends me out to gather stuff for his work, I usually take a few hours' extra time in savoring the freedom, and to check on my deer friends.  My deer sanctuaries are more of a second home to me, whenever I desire peace and quiet, away from everyone.  I've slept there numerous nights."

► What is your occupation?

"Guard of the Woodland Realm, light infantry division.  I've served as an agent in more covert operations, as well.  Being a soldier isn't full-time though, as part of the reserve forces, but I do get called on quite a bit whenever the Guard needs an extra hand shooing spiders off the lawn.  Off-duty, I usually help out my father and sister, as an assistant, putting medicines and clothes together."

► Write a full physical description of yourself.  You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.

"I'm an Elf, obviously.  Pointy ears, more of the gentle points than sharp ones.  Shorter than average, compared to most Silvan females, though I think my father's side is to blame for that; he's not the tallest Elf either, mind.  Light tannish skin, not like the usual Elf; again, my father's Avari side, they were darker, not all fair and creamy like my mother.  My hair is a dark, woody shade of brown, between my father's black and my mother's brown.  And my eyes are a hazel blend, between my father's brown and my mother's green.  I take more 'exotic' looks after my father, though.  I tan easily in the sun, too.  Gives me a golden complexion, and highlights in my hair.  I look more like a 'sun' child than a 'star' one.

As for clothing, I'm not too picky.  Greens and browns, mostly.  Whatever's easiest to slip on, at the moment.  I have my Guard uniform, weapons and armor.  Casual clothes would be tunics and leggings, or dresses.  I'll wear a dress and slippers on a lazy day, if I know nothing's going to pop out and jump scare me, though I usually keep a dagger around for precaution.  When it comes to fashion, it's my sister's job to doll me up.  She knows my tastes, and I'm grateful I don't have to think too hard about what to put on for the next party or social function."

► To which social class do you belong?

"Middle class, maybe upper-middle… Certainly well-off and privileged compared to most Free Peoples of Middle-earth.  Among Elves, however, I'd say I'm lower class.  Just your average worker and guard replacement, no prominent roles or titles to speak of.  I prefer it that way, not standing out.  All the better for working undercover."  *wink*

► Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?

"As an Elf, no, but…  Female body and all, shorter height and lower weight, has its own physical limitations in terms of strength in combat, compared to my male counterparts."

► Are you right- or left-handed?

"Both.  Ambidextrous.  I use both hands equally.  Handling weapons, especially.  As part of the Guard, training to wield duel swords and such, I've built up plenty of reflexes to switch fluently between either hand."

► What does your voice sound like?

"Pleasant, I hope.  Silvery, soft-spoken.  Low and even-toned on the job, sharp and firm when I need to be authoritative.  Probably more delicate and mellifluous than the average female guard, even in a honeyed sort of way.  Among friends and family, off-work, it's usually more vibrant, bright and cheery."

► What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?

"Spiders.  Deer.  Trees."

► What do you have in your pockets?

"Traveling light is important on the job, so I only carry the bare essentials when I'm out in the woods, usually not too far from an outpost or supply camp.  Let's see, here…  A small knife, bundle of herbs, piece of hardtack, and deer jerky. …Don't judge."

► Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?

"Deer.  No surprise to most everyone in Greenwood, I am a deer lover, and will do everything I can to prevent them from being needlessly hunted down.  Interfering with hunters has gotten me into trouble before, when I was in Thellant.  Since returning to Greenwood, I am much more discreet about confronting hunters nowadays.  If at all, simply by making prey scarce before hunters appear.  Fortunately, some of the trees are so kind as to help to me, providing cover for me to set up my little deer sanctuaries.  Helps me rest easy, knowing the deer have a safe place to retreat to, so I don't have to keep worrying about them all the time.  Still, I understand survival, and would give up the last deer to save the last Elf, if it came down to it.

I suppose all Wood-elves share the same quirks for being reclusive and spiritually connected to trees, perhaps some more attuned to them than others.   I am very close to the Forest, and I aim to do right by it.  I will kill those who intend to harm the Wood, and will give up my life to protect it.  The Forest is my life.  Without it…I am nothing.  If Greenwood dies, I will surely fade with it.

If 'cheery' could be considered annoying, then I do have a reputation for it, during my rounds as a guard.  Smiling is my pokerface, and I believe all attempts to dissuade me from doing so to be done out of jealousy.  It's not my fault the other guards don't have a smile as pretty as mine."

Growing Up ║ PART 2

► How would you describe your childhood in general?

"Happy and carefree, and far longer than most parents would have allowed, taking life at my own pace, weaning myself off my parents' devotion.  I didn't grow up nearly as fast as most other children were pressured to, in my village.  I enjoyed my childhood to the fullest, and by the time my sister Lathariel was born, I was already grown and more than willing to let someone new become the center of my parents' world.  I had the luxury of being a late bloomer, and wouldn't trade the peace and contentment of those idle days for anything."

► What is your earliest memory?

"As a babe…  I remember warmth, being held by my parents.  The green trees of Thellant, rays of sunlight shining through them.  The smell of wisteria in my father's garden.  And my mother's lullabies, always humming in my ears.  It was heavenly."

► How much schooling have you had?

"Over a thousand years of it, self-taught or otherwise.  Don't we all learn something new every day?  Guard training, is always an ongoing process.  Healing and tailoring, I'm still being homeschooled in, by my father and sister.  I did start archery lessons when I hit age twenty-seven.  I suppose if I weren't so 'distracted' in shadowing everyone and picking up a dozen odd skills, I'd be a far better warrior than I am now."

► Did you enjoy school?

"I enjoy learning, so yes."

► Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?

"On the map, that would be Greenwood.  And Ninoris, just outside of Greenwood."

► While growing up, did you have any role models?  If so, describe them.

"My parents, for all the reasons that they raised me.  I also had an archery teacher and a healer friend of my father's that I admired, back in Thellant.  Frankly everyone in Thellant was a tight-knit community.  Nearly all of them were like family to me, so I looked up to many of them as role models."

► While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?

"We were all very close, I and my parents especially.  I was already grown up when my sisters came along.  Two is company, three is a crowd…  My sisters had their own circles of friends, and I found myself more drawn to the deer and painting instead.  Aerlinniel was young and rebellious.  I didn't get to know her nearly as much as I would've liked, before she was taken away.  Lathariel was more ladylike and proper, but flighty in her own way.  I didn't connect as much with Lathariel when she was a child, but when Thellant fell and she and I and our father fled the Forest… Just the three of us living together, she and I bonded really close."

► As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

"I didn't have any strong 'wants', but naturally, being closer to my father, I thought of becoming a healer, like him.  I never really had much of a chance to test that theory, before the spiders appeared.  I don't know if healing was the right path destined for me.  If I truly felt such conviction, I don't think I would have chosen the warrior way."

► As a child, what were your favorite activities?

"Playing with other children, mostly.  I had responsibilities in taking care of my family's farm and garden, which I enjoyed, and overall helping out my neighbors in looking after the village.  Painting didn't become so much of an invested hobby of mine until my sister Lathariel was born, when I was already an adult.  As a child, I had all the free time I wanted to play with other children, and mainly when I was bored and needed something else to do would I help out my parents at work.  Most of my restless energy was spent outside with the other children.  My parents encouraged it, and didn't force me to grow up too fast."

► As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?

"Outgoing and talkative.  Apparently I was a loud baby, according to my mother.  Not in a fussy sort of way, but always babbling and wanting to talk.  I picked up language early.  I was very outdoorsy, wanting to explore everything and everyone in my village.  I played a lot with other children.  I suppose creativity in games could have translated to art, coming up with new ways to entertain myself.  I had a vivid imagination in painting.  I've always been an animal lover, moreso as I grew older and became more mellow in socializing.  I value more quiet time now, than I did as a child."

► As a child, were you popular?  Who were your friends, and what were they like?

"I got along well with most other children in my village.  I was a good shot in archery, so fortunately that garnered more admiration than jealousy, since I wasn't too boastful about it.  We were a colorful crew, and did everything together that we could conjure up to do.  More like siblings than friends, in some ways.  We fought spiders together…  I wish all of them had made it out of Thellant, with me."

► When and with whom was your first kiss?

"Literally, my mother, when I was born.  But if you mean romantically, then no.  Haven't had it."

► Are you a virgin?  If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?

"Virgin of body.  Not of mind, ears or eyes.  How else am I supposed to be all-knowing and wise?"  *coy smile*  "Oh, did I just do poetry, for a second?"

Past Influences ║ PART 3

► What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?

"Being accepted into the Guard.  It changed my whole life, from there.  I became a warrior, then.  I set aside my old course in painting and healing, and decided to help the Forest in the best way I could.  One healer was enough for our family.  My father is more than enough healer for both us, more than I could ever hope to become, anyway.  And my sister filled tailoring as her own function.  Someone had to step up and be the warrior in the family.  Between the three of us, I was the most qualified and willing to do that."

► Who has had the most influence on you?

"My father, whether we both liked it or not."

► What do you consider your greatest achievement?

"Being accepted into the Guard, again.  It certainly wasn't the easiest examination to pass.  Oh, and staying alive.  That would be the greatest achievement, since joining the Guard."

► What is your greatest regret?

"Not keeping a closer eye on my sister, Aerlinniel.  If only I had intervened sooner…  I knew her friends would get her into trouble, one day.  If only I had convinced my parents to lock her up.  I don't believe my mother would have given into such despair that would cause her to lose the will to live, if only Aerlinniel had been around.  But beyond my mother…  I wish I could have seen Aerlinniel grow up.  I wonder what kind of relationship the two of us would have.  I wonder what she would have become.  And I still wonder if she's out there…somewhere."

► What is the most evil thing you have ever done?

"Shooting an arrow at one of my own kin, back in Thellant; the first time I ever did.  I was around…thirty?…forty, at the time?…  The most evil thing I nearly did.  I don't think I would've shot him.  …I think."

► Do you have a criminal record of any kind?

"None that I'm aware of.  Er… Unless if you count the former of me shooting arrows at my own kin, which I did have a juvenile detention record of, back in Thellant, so I suppose some of that has come back to bite me, since returning to Greenwood.  Those from Thellant who remember me, anyway.  I – No, I never actually shot anyone!  And I don't do it anymore!  Maybe draw, but not loose!  Still, it was considered a crime against Elves and Eru, so I was no less treated as a criminal in Thellant, in that regard.  Hmph. Do I regret it?  No, I dare say a few of them deserved it.  Hunters, especially.  However, as a model member of the Guard, I am much better at practicing calm and restraint, nowadays."

► When was the time you were the most frightened?

"When my little sister, Aerlinniel, went missing.  Other children and villagers had vanished in the woods before, around Thellant, but when it happens to your own family, your own sibling…  It was the first time I ever experienced such terror.  Such loss.  Such…pain and regret.   It still haunts me."

► What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?

"Elves fart.  'Nuff said."

► If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?

"Aerlinniel.  Like I said, I wish I could have stopped her from leaving.  I have no doubt my mother would still be with us, if only she had Aerlinniel to keep her going."

► What is your best memory?

"Painting in my mother's studio, when I was a child.  When I started out in painting, my mother allowed me to paint on the walls of her shop.  Somehow, she convinced my father to let me do it everywhere:  our house, the barn, my father's shed.  Those were my moments of bonding with my mother, whenever my father was too busy at work to tolerate me; he'd send me over to my mother's shop instead, so I'd help her out there, dying yarn and sewing clothes.  When days were quiet, it would just be me and her in her studio.  My mother at the loom, with her needle… Me with my paintbrush…  We shared the same artistic side, just expressed in different ways.  She supported and appreciated my art in a way my father couldn't connect with.  I painted a lot when she was still around, so many colorful worlds and whimsical fantasies I created, but…since then, I…lost…much of that spark.   Just deer, and forest…is all I really care for, these days."

► What is your worst memory?

"Thellant.  The day it fell, and everyone fled.  That was the end of my childhood home.  The end of the world I once knew."

Beliefs and Opinions ║ PART 4

► Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?

"Optimistic, though I'm usually more pessimistic on the job."

► What is your greatest fear?

"Darkness.  That Darkness will consume Greenwood entirely.  Hopefully not my family with it."

► What are your religious views?

"I worship Eru Iluvatar, and I try to live my life as he would want me to.  As an Elf, I believe it is my place to take care of this world, most of all the Forest, and to live harmoniously with everyone.  Creatures of Darkness, however, I believe it is Eru's will to eradicate them, for the betterment of this world.  If he can renew Darkness into Light, I should hope it is within the mercy of Eru's plan that all lost souls be given a second chance, in Arda or elsewhere."

► What are your political views?

"I'm not thoroughly concerned with politics, but…  Even if I did have views, I doubt the King would care for my opinions, anyway, so…no point in discussing them."  *gives in a few seconds later*  "I do care about Greenwood's forest, though.  I would put more effort into going out there and saving it, not so much defending what little is left of our borders, if I could.  I'd rather we all flee to Lothlorien than sit around and wait to die in the caves, at this rate.  Perhaps if we joined forces with the Galadhrim, we would make better progress in rooting out the spider problem."

► What are your views on sex?

"To each their own.  I wouldn't do it unless if it's with the one I'm wedded to."

► Are you able to kill?  Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?

"Yes, I can kill.  I am very well trained to kill.  And have killed and would kill, even without professional guard training.  Any ally of Darkness should be destroyed, in order to preserve what little Light remains in this world.  Beyond that, I would kill for my own survival and self-defense, and that of others as well.  I would kill for justice, if someone has done something exceedingly wicked.  Taking life is not something I know I should get too comfortable with doing, though it has become easier for me to do so, without second thought, being part of the Guard.  Still, I am rather self-conscious about 'stealing' such a divine power that, what I believe, should only belong to Eru.  In the end, I am not proud of killing, and I repent myself of every blood I've spilt."

► In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any being could do?

"Inflict needless suffering on an innocent.  A swift killing is one thing, but torture is…  I don't believe Eru would approve of anyone 'playing god' and toying with life, like that."

► Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?

"No.  Love is a choice.  I do not believe we are predestined to be paired with anyone, like an arranged marriage, and I refuse to believe there is a missing 'half' of me out there somewhere that can 'complete' me.  I am Ivriniel, and I am whole.  One can love anyone as ardently and entirely as another, so long as both reciprocate the same loyalty and willingness to understand each other.  I would know.  I'd say I've found my perfect match in at least a dozen suitors, and yet I refused them all."

► What do you believe makes a successful life?

"Simply by believing you have lived a successful life.  It's all about attitude and perspective.  And I've always been a glass half full kind of Elf.  I am alive, and I have survived.  I call that 'success' in my book."

► How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?

"My true self…  Hm.  Pretty sure that 'true self' died when Thellant fell… First crippled when the spiders emerged… Sick and withering when my sister went missing and my mother passed away.  I used to be happier, closer to art and healing.  Since the darkening of Greenwood, I've only been piling on layers.  I do not have any stone walls that someone has to break through in order to release a whole torrent of emotions.  But many, many paper-thin layers…  Easy to peel back, yet oh-so-tedious to find and reach that center.  Even I don't know where that center lies anymore.  That seed of 'true self'...

I am good at small talk, and radiating positive energy.  Most assume that must mean I'm all right, and don't press into it any further.  Life is already sorrowful, and I would rather spare myself and others the trouble of delving into my hardships.  Everyone's focus is on more important matters, anyway.  I am nothing.  My life is no longer in my own hands to control, bound to the Forest and the Guard, so why even bother to make things 'better' for myself?  I do not hope to survive the next day.  Might as well don a devil-may-care attitude and not think too hard.

My father and sister are my closest confidants, yet even them, I've grown distant from sharing my deepest thoughts and feelings, since joining the Guard.  Some experiences cannot be put into words, only felt by those who have been through the same.  Nature is both a balm and a bane, my greatest comfort yet my worst critic.  The Forest knows all, sees all, and I feel the trees judge me at every turn.  Not all of them look favorably on me.  Even though I do it all for them.

My 'true self' was uprooted as a sapling, and if a seed still lingers, shadow covers it, and the ground is parched and dry, only to be watered with blood.  I was never made to become a warrior, but who else would if not those in the Guard who also gave up their livelihoods and dreams, to defend Greenwood?  Perhaps when the Forest is clear, sun and rain might fall on me again, and the seed will sprout.  Though I accept the road I am on would sooner lead me to the same end as my mother, before such a goal comes to fruition.

There, you have me honest.  I have nothing to hide.  I only reveal as much as what is asked of me.  So…if you care to know more, you best get specific."

► Do you have any biases or prejudices?

"No.  Even from youth, indoctrinated in Elvish beliefs, I've always been pretty impartial.  I've lived among Men, I've encountered a few Dwarves.  I have my wariness and cautions, but I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt.  Even servants of Darkness… though I must admit, I have low sympathy for them, and don't entirely view them as equals compared to those sided with the Light."

► Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances?  Why do you refuse to do it?

"Harming an innocent for no reason.  I have a conscience, you know.  And it would surely be weighed against my soul, when I die."

► Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?

"Sadly, probably anything.  Even an orc, if my impulsiveness gets the better of me.  Family, for certain.  My people and fellow guards, which I'm obligated to protect.  Those innocent, if their lives are in peril.  Deer, of course, which are my soft spots.  And trees, obviously, since why else would I have joined the Guard, if only to protect the forest?"

Relationships with Others ║ PART 5

► In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)?  Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?

"Kindly and respectfully, no matter who they are.  Even an ally of Darkness, though I consider 'kindness' and 'respect' to be a swift and painless death, for them.  Formal or professional settings, I can appear more reserved or stern than I really am.  Not as rigid or harsh as most of my fellow guards like to imitate.  I am fairly relaxed and smiling is a habit of mine.  Even as a façade, I would rather be warm and sociable, to make it easy for others to approach and confide in me.  For all constructive purposes, it's useful for gleaning intel and information.  No shortage of genuine care and concern with it, to those I open myself up to."

► Who is the most important person in your life, and why?

"My father.  He's the one responsible for keeping my skin intact, since I joined the Guard."

► Who is the person you respect the most, and why?

"My father.  Profession aside, he's always been there for me and my sister.  He would never abandon us.  He would give up Greenwood just to keep us safe.  Sometimes I feel guilty of 'disrespecting' him by bringing him back to Greenwood, signing my life away to the Guard, throwing away his efforts to keep me and Lathariel safe, back in Ninoris.  I hope I can make it up to him."

► Who are your friends?  Do you have a best friend?  Describe these people.

"I have many friends among the Guard, fellow Elves, other races…  They're easy for me to come by.  Most of them serve a purpose as 'connections', very superficial attachments.  No less loyalty, but no more personal than common interests.  Close friends are few and far between; I find them more among the trees and the deer.  My best friend would be my sister, Lathariel.  We share many secrets on a level I cannot confide with my father, though he is a close second, if I do not have Lathariel to turn to.  My father, I mainly go to for advice.  My sister, I can vent to and be entirely honest with, and not expect a lecture from her.  Still, she has her own family to take care of, so I've…not been talking to her as much, lately.  Well, we do talk.  I just don't confess as much, what's really on my mind."

► Do you have a spouse or significant other?  If so, describe this person.

"Well, the only 'significant others' I can think of aren't exactly people per se."  *chuckles*  "None in the civil status sense, though."

► Have you ever been in love?  If so, describe what happened.

"I've had many admirers and admired.  Both among Elves and Men.  Nothing serious, though.  Most of them, I developed good strong friendships with.  Love is natural, and I've never been one to shy away from admitting such affections for another, perhaps a little too boldly at times.  Still, better to be upfront than to lead someone on.  Commitment, however, is an entirely different thing, and I wouldn't let my emotions deceive me into making a decision that would impact me for the rest of all eternity.  I don't know if I've ever been 'in love', but if the feeling truly is as powerful as others claim it to be, then… I guess I'm pretty strong, not allowing myself to get swept away so easily by it."

► What do you look for in a potential lover?

"Elf, is the only steadfast criteria.  I don't hate myself enough to endure the pain of being eternally separated from a mortal one.  Beyond that, hmm…  I'll know it when I know it."

► How close are you to your family?

"Very close.  My father and sister, especially."

► Have you started your own family?  If so, describe them.  If not, do you want to?  Why or why not?

"I am a proud many-greats-grandmother to a multitude of deer children.  But as for my own family, no.  Frankly, I've always been…scared…of having children.  I'd probably be the most overbearing, overprotective mother ever.  To give up a part of yourself in order to bring a child into the world, to have to worry about their well-being for all eternity…  I don't think I'm strong or 'selfless' enough to sacrifice my own happiness for that.  I've seen what it did to my mother, to die from grief after losing Aerlinniel.  I don't want to feel…bound to anyone.  I want my freedom.  I only want to worry about myself.  I can barely invest enough of that into my father and sister, with work in the way.  My nieces and nephews are more than enough 'children' for me, and I've poured all my devotion into helping raise them.  But right now, the security of the Realm comes first.  I wouldn't dare dream of getting married while in the army, for the sake of sparing my partner from grief, should the worst happen to me.  My life and heart is to the Forest.  Should I live to see the day the Forest is restored then…maybe.  I'm not giving my hopes up for it, though."

► Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?

"My fellow guards, when I'm on the job.  My father and sister, if 'help' is more personal.  My father, for all my healing needs.  My sister, for all my stress eating habits."

► Do you trust anyone to protect you?  Who, and why?

"I trust my fellow guards to protect me in combat, as I would sacrifice myself to protect them.  I trust my family to protect me in certain ways, more verbally than physically, against the populace.  Though my father does have an arsenal of poisons he could use to lace someone's drink instead."

► If you died or went missing, who would miss you?

"My father and sister.  Close relatives, I hope.  I say I've made a fair few friends who would give a passing thought of me, now and then."

► Who is the person you despise the most, and why?

"'Despise' is such a strong word, but…  My mother.  It hurts to think that my father, my sister, and I were not enough for her to continue living for us.  It's so…selfish.  I don't know if I will ever fully forgive her for leaving us behind.  Yet ironically, I've never been closer to understanding those reasons, since joining the Guard.  I would do everything in my power to avoid it, for the sake my family and the Forest, yet I fear it will all become too much for me to bear.  I wish I were stronger.  I hate myself for not being stronger.   I despise myself."

► Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?

"Avoid.  I wouldn't start any petty drama for no reason.  Unless if you're a hunter.  Or a logger."

► Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?

"I consider myself a good follower, and would rather avoid the responsibilities and spotlight that comes with leadership.  Doesn't mean I couldn't step up and be a leader, if I wanted to."

► Do you like interacting with large groups of people?  Why or why not?

"Doesn't matter the size of the group, but who the company is and whether or not they're sane people.  I don't get anxiety from social situations, so it really all depends on my mood, whether or not I crave any interaction at all."

► Do you care what others think of you?

"Yes, very much.  If anything, I care a great deal about what Eru and the Valar think of me.  I care about remaining in the good graces of my superiors in the Guard, and my king.  I care about being a hardworking, law abiding citizen; a good neighbor; a loving daughter, sister, and aunt.  I care about the trees and the deer; I do believe the trees talk and have opinions about me, too.  I care about others so much, I am willing to bend and sacrifice my all for them, and not trouble them with any of my…personal problems.  I could, however, care less about what people think of my other quirks, so long as I'm not in jeopardy of being kicked out of the Realm over them."

Likes and Dislikes ║ PART 6

► What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?

"Painting, roaming nature, playing with deer, being with my family."

► What is your most treasured possession?

"The Forest."  *sniggers*  "All right then… My hair ribbon.  Which is any spare ribbon that happens to be lying around.  I do prefer olive green and dark gold, though.  Gold complements my sun-kissed highlights.  Anyway… It keeps the hair out of my eyes, which helps me concentrate.  And just overall cautiousness from the story of Glorfindel.  Marks me apart from other Elves too, wearing a ponytail instead.  I suppose there is a little sentiment attached to those ribbons I manage to hold onto for over a year, before I end up losing or misplacing them somehow."

► What is your favorite color?

"Gold.  Not because of the metal, but because of the sun.  Say what they want about Elves and starlight, but for me… I've always preferred the golden rays of sunlight, best.  When everything is green and vibrant and colorful, during the day.  Especially in summer."

► What is your favorite food?

"Oh, my sister makes these savory herb buns filled with mushroom, cheese and potato.  Mmm! They are amazing!   Easy to carry too.  I often take them with me, on the job.  And a few extra, to share."

► What, if anything, do you like to read?

"Books on medicinal plants, wilderness survival, military strategy…  Do maps count?  Cooking books, sometimes."

► What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, art, etc.)?

"Well, on the job…  Killing spiders, for one, is good entertainment right there; as well as sparring and target practice, and just goofing off with co-workers.  Aside from the job, when I want something more lively… Social gatherings are nice.  Could be an outing to town, a picnic, or a party."

► Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs?  If so, why?  Do you want to quit?

"I'll entertain a sip of wine for a gathering, on very jovial occasions, but never to the point of intoxication, really.  Losing oneself in a stupor is quite low and poor manners, to me.  I'd rather keep my mind sharp and alert at all times, not only in case danger might strike.  The taste has never been something I crave for, and I'm not in it for the effect either.  I'd rather 'drown out' pain with something else more…productive and beneficial to the soul.  Like art or meditation.  And family.  Food is also a good stress-reliever.  I'll wolf down a whole cake, any day."

► How do you spend a typical Saturday night?

"If I'm not at work, patrolling the borders, then I'm usually with my family, eating dinner with them.  I might even attend a party with friends."

► What makes you laugh?

"Things that are… funny?  I'd say I chuckle frequently, since I try to be light-hearted and cheerful around others."

► What, if anything, shocks or offends you?

"Death.  All of it.  Every single life I've taken and seen taken away.  Plant, animal, and person, Light and Dark alike.  It all weighs on me, though I'm used to burying it deep down.  It only festers below, releasing its vapors to torment me.  Racism and discrimination, such as the rift between Dwarves and Elves.  You'd think Elves would be wiser to forgive and make amends easily, but no, it's quite the opposite.  Greed and pride, those things that can be used to oppress others.  I don't understand how people can be so cruel to each other.  This world is a mess.  Sometimes, I think my mother was right.  Some days…I wish I could follow after her."

► What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?

"Nature is both soothing and invigorating, and I'm easily entertained by my own thoughts.  Bring both together, I could sit for hours in a quiet spot, or walk around outside.  Deer are more active at night, so I'd visit my sanctuaries and find company with them, lie down on the grass and close my eyes.  It's helped me fall asleep on restless nights, before."

► How do you deal with stress?

"Doing nearly anything in the vicinity that can distract my mind from it.  Meditation, sparring, eating food, paperwork, scrubbing floors, playing with deer, killing spiders.  I have no set coping mechanism."

► Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?

"Somewhere in the middle.  I enjoy routine, but my mind can bend on a whim.  Too much planning takes the fun out of life, which is always changing.  Even nature is unpredictable and wild.  I try to adapt and go with the flow.  And you never know what you might discover, along the way."

► What are your pet peeves?

"Drunkards.  Particularly among the Woodland army kind, those who get wasted on the job.  Excluding the Dwarf incident, I've seen too many guards fall out of trees and maim themselves and/or others while under the influence, to know what I'm talking about.  It's one of the reasons why I avoid the wine glass as much as possible.  Someone has to be sober and keep a lookout around here.  Perhaps if Wood-elves invested as much care into spiders as they do wine-tasting and parties, we might actually make some progress in taking back our Realm!  Seriously, which is our real priority?"  *rants*

Self Images and Etc ║ PART 7

► Describe the routine of a normal day for you.  How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?

"Work in the Guard is unpredictable.  You always have to be on 'guard', you see.  One minute you're bored out of your wits, snoozing in a tree… the next minute a swarm of spiders appears or a pack of orcs invades, or you're marching out to a neighboring city to go to battle.  A normal 'good' day would be patrolling the borders, snuffing a few spiders – if you're lucky, a whole nest of them – and not losing any of your company.  I spend the majority of my week out in the forest, training at base camp, tending to my unit, and living off the wild."

► What is your greatest strength as a person?

"Versatility, is what I've been commended for, as a member of the Guard."

► What is your greatest weakness?

"Possessiveness.  Deer, trees, people…  Hand in hand with impulsiveness, it leads me to make rash and reckless decisions at times, and to lose control of my tongue, saying things I regret…  Also too coddling and overprotective at times, particularly over my nieces and nephews."

► If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

*taps chin*  "Maybe a few inches taller?  So I'd look a little more intimidating and be taken a little more seriously as a guard, and carry a little more weight.  I'm not complaining, though.  Being on the 'shorter' side has its perks."

► Are you generally introverted or extroverted?

"Introverted.  More of a social introvert, though I have no problem with entertaining company on a larger scale.  I suppose too much interaction could become draining, after a while.  Generally, I prefer time alone to reenergize myself.  Alone with my deer friends, preferably."

► Are you generally organized or messy?

"Organized.  Military, can't stress that enough.  Though naturally, I've always been a clean and tidy individual.  I have very few personal belongings to sort out anyway, so even I didn't organize them, it wouldn't be enough to make a proper 'mess' of my quarters, even if I wanted to."

► Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.

"I consider myself good at painting, archery, and… woodcarving, which is usually my alternative to painting, when I haven't got a paintbrush or drawing materials around, particularly when I'm bored on duty.  As for what I'm bad at, that would be…  Poetry, riddles, and most board and card games.  I haven't got the wit or patience for them.  Or competitive interest to really want to win, at the third."

► Do you like yourself?

"Yes, I am content with myself.  And I aspire to improve myself as well. "

► What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)?  Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public?  (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)

"I am a member of the Guard because I want to protect the Forest.  That's it.  If the Guard were all Dwarves and Men, I wouldn't care.  I'm not in it for the sake of the Wood-elves, or Thranduil, or the precious Realm.  Do I tell others that?  No, I don't freely confess that aloud in public, though many of my co-workers can tell and do know that I'm…independent, in that regard.  I've pledged myself otherwise, and I'll uphold that vow to protect my people as best as I can, so long as the common purpose of saving the Forest still stands."

► What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?

"If not actively partaking in the fight, then I at least hope to see the purge of Darkness from Greenwood.  To see the forest on the mend of returning to what it was once."

► Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

"If not in a grave, slain by spiders or orcs, then probably here in Greenwood, keeping watch over our borders, doing the same old routine."

► If you could choose, how would you want to die?

"Doesn't matter, so long as I have the option of giving up my spirit, first.  Sounds like the most peaceful way to go, on my own terms, rather than having my life be snuffed out by another force.  Though if I had to pick something else more specific…  Instant incineration by dragon fire, would do nicely."

► If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.

"Friends, family, deer.  I'd say goodbye to them all.  Deer first, friends second, family last…and the longest.  The first two, I could pass over.  I'd rather die surrounded by my family.   At least to give them closure on where to find my body. I'd hate for them to worry about that."

► What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?

"Humility, as a servant of Arda.  That I fought simply for the goodness of this world.  To protect nature, and to help people.  Truly though, I care not for anyone to remember me, except myself.  …Would that be pride, still?"

► What three words best describe your personality?

"Artistic.  Giving.  Minimalist."

► What three words would others probably use to describe you?

"Crazy deer woman."

► If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character?  (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…)

*sarcastic thumbs up*
