Lord of the Last Homely House
« on: February 01, 2016, 05:11:04 AM »
Elrond is the Lord of Rivendell, son-in-law to Celeborn and Galadriel, father to Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen, and bearer of Vilya (though only a few know of the last). He is wise and kind yet haunted by the past more than even most Elves are. He was raised for the most part by Maglor and Maedhros, sons of Feanor, and was herald and captain to the last High King of the Noldor, Gil-galad. He is a capable fighter (except with archery) and excels at running Imladris but his true passion and skill lies in healing. He is still the chief healer in Rivendell.

Friends: Elrond is odd for an Elf simply because he has little hatred for the other races that many of his kind have, especially towards Dwarves. He knows of the reasons behind much of it and sympathizes some what with both sides but he created Rivendell to be a safe place of learning and healing and he welcomes any whose heart are not evil.

Enemies: His chief enemies are the Dark Lord Sauron and those that serve him though he has a particular hatred for Orcs due to what they did to Celebrian and that they are essentially a twisted form of Elves.

Lovers: Elrond, as is normal for Elves, has only one love and her name is Celebrian, daughter to Celeborn and Galadriel, and married her early in the Third Age. They have three children though she is no longer in Middle Earth, having sailed to Valinor to be healed by the Valar after being captured and tortured by Orcs. But despite the possibility of not seeing her again should he not manage to go there either by sailing or by dying, he won't be cheating on her, even if his nature didn't make it impossible for him to do so.

These two have shared many a moment, and I think at least some of what she knows came from him, especially on healing and dealing with day to day run of Rivendell. There’s both good and bad to throw into the game, and we could go all the way from their first meeting. Would you like to thread and figure it all out?

I also noticed quite a few of your characters Celebrian could have met or closely interacted with. Let me know if you’d like to thread with them, as well, if you have the time.

I think threads between these two are needed.

(and I shall reply throw some of my other characters your way as well)

When would we start with these two and would you like to start or would like me to do so?

Honestly, I think just after Sauron's defeat when Elrond is being super awkward about trying not to be too obvious in his interest might be a fun place to start. And she could totally confront him and he'll break down and tell her his feelings. I can start if you would like?

I agree, this should be fun. Learning things second hand is probably not something she would have preferred, especially concerning wars and what usually follows those. Would you mind for this one?

Hello there! I do believe Lord Elrond and his Chief Councilor need to plot! I would love to explore their early relationship and how that developed (oh, imagine the awkward of those first meetings! "So...umm...Yeah I kinda served the two guys that kidnapped you...but then I turned away from all that kinslaying nonsense and you grew to like them anyway? So yeah...we cool dude?") though I'd be happy with pretty much anything between these two! I just really think they'd be fun together. So yeah, thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Celebrian: Already sorted this out :) I hope to have the thread out this week.

Erestor: Sometimes I think Elrond wonders what he would do without Erestor. But their early interactions should be interesting since Elrond came to view Maglor as almost a father to him yet he also knew that there had been a lot of wrongs committed by them and those that followed them. Which might be an interesting thread to start with. Did you have thoughts on when they first met?

Welp, soon after the Third Kinslaying Erestor took up in Lindon and was living there when Elrond and Elros were finally returnd to Gil-Galad. So I'm sure he'll definately know about how Maglor and Maedhros kidnapped them, though he'd be less aware of Elrond's feelings towards Maglor. At this point in his life I imagine Erestor would be keeping as much to himself as possible, especially where Eärendil's sons are concerned, so it actually might have taken them a while before they actually officially met and had any substantial interactions, but with that said, sometime before the War of Wrath probably.  Beyond that I'm pretty much open for anything: cornering Erestor in a library, Crashing into him on the street while he's carrying an armfull of books and scrolls and pens and things, even just Erestor watching Elrond curiously from afar. So long as Erestor would be unable to worm his way out of a proper conversation and continue avoiding Elrond it'll work for me!^^

I could always have Elrond notice that Erestor keeps staring at him and/or avoiding him like the plague and confront him? I'm sure if he didn't already know about Erestor's history, he could find it out and want to hash it out with him.

A thread like that does sound good but Elrond does sail two years after the One Ring is destroyed/Arwen marries Aragorn. So if you wanted to do a thread within those two years, that would be good :)
