The Grey Mountains Otherwise known as Ered Mithrin, this is a large mountain range in the north of Rhovanion. In times past these mountains were home to Dwarves but now most of the strongholds have been abandoned or raided by Dragons.

Mirkwood Formerly known as Greenwood, this is a dense and mysterious forest that is home to Elves who are ruled by King Thranduil. The Enchanted River flows through Mirkwood, its magical properties cause deep sleep and amnesia. The forest is also the home of Giant Spiders, who have a tendency to reside in dark and dangerous places.

Lake-town A town built directly on a wooden pier extending over the Long Lake. It lies directly south of the Lonely Mountain, which looms ominously over the city. Lake-town is, however, quite prosperous, as it does much business with the Elves of Mirkwood.

Further Afield Rhovanion is home to a number of other places, such as Carrock, the Brownlands, Dimrill Dale and Dagorlad. Important rivers in the region include the Anduin or Great River, the Celduin or Running, and the Carnen or Redwater.
